Erik LarsenWhile commercial radio almost completely ignores the composers, orchestras and vocalists of the 1920's - 1940's, Erik Larsen has, in retirement, carved out a niche, presenting this Classic American Popular Music, with little known historical facts, to audiences young and old. He has performed on both coasts to mostly seniors, but also to those with little vintage musical knowledge who are anxious to listen and learn.

His goal is to keep these memorable recordings 'alive' and fresh so future generations can better appreciate these artists' immeasurable contributions and therefore develop the desire to enjoy the vast wealth of exceptional music and talent left behind to be rediscovered.

Born in the Big Band/Swing years, Mr. Larsen was fortunate as a child to accompany his father, whose orchestra was comprised of former professional musicians , to his many 'gigs'. With that exposure, he began researching and collecting vintage recordings and resource materials, in every conceivable form, and that passion continues to this day...over 60 years!

During his youth work and teaching career, he moved around the country and joined two big band radio stations playing much of the music he now promotes, gleaning additional knowledge and adding to his already large music library. Mr. Larsen is a resident of Flagstaff, Arizona and while visiting friends in Oakmont agreed to speak at the Symposium.
