Paul GullixsonPaul Gullixson is Editorial Director for The Press Democrat in Santa Rosa where he manages the editorial and op-ed pages. He also oversees the content and production of the opinion pages on PressDemocrat.com, the newspaper’s Web site. Among his responsibilities, Paul writes editorials, a twice-monthly column and co-authors a blog titled “Inside Opinion.”

Before coming to The Press Democrat as an editorial writer in 1998, he served as Peninsula Bureau Chief for the San Francisco Chronicle. Prior to that, he was editor of the Palo Alto Weekly for five years.

Paul also is an eight-year board member and past president of the California First Amendment Coalition.

He has received awards for editorial writing and column writing from the California Newspaper Publishers Association and the San Francisco Peninsula Press Club and was recipient of the New York Times Co. Chairman’s Award for editorial writing in 2005.Paul Gullixson

Paul is a native of Palo Alto and a graduate of the University of Oregon School of Journalism. He lives in Santa Rosa with his wife, Tamara, his 7-year-old daughter Clara, and his 11-year-old son, Christopher. In his spare time, he coaches Little League baseball and soccer and volunteers with Cub Scouts and a father-daughter program at the YMCA. And he can’t think of a better place to raise two children than in Sonoma County.
