Jud presented a summary of two conferences which he and his wife, Leslie, attended; the Atheist Alliance International (AAI) Convention in October 2009 in Burbank , CA, and the Freedom from Religion Foundation (FFRF) Convention in November 2009 in Seattle. Featured speakers in Burbank included Richard Dawkins and Daniel Dennett, and in Seattle, Ron Reagan and Eugenie Scott. The essence of the talks were presented, along with suggestions for further reading.
Jud was trained as an organic chemist and worked for 34 years at the Chevron central research laboratory in Richmond, CA. After retirement in 1985 he forsook chemistry for other pursuits such as traveling, photography, lawn bowling and music. He has spoken previously at the Sunday Symposium on the Sand Creek Massacre and various skeptic topics. He and Leslie have been Oakmont residents since 1986, and he is a long time member of the Symposium board.
