"Is Science a Religion?"

The notion that science and religion are opposed has been around for centuries. Tales abound about how the Vatican was determined to destroy science. Even today many religionists refute evolution. Scientists are often arrogant and wonder how in the world any thinking person could believe the fairy tales that religions promote. But some thinking people are tired of the squabble and now say science has all the trappings of religion: the creation stories (i.e. evolution and the big bang) seem similar, and the disdain each side feels for the other as well as the special understanding that each side claims to have of the True workings of the universe do seem to promote the idea of similarities.

The talk by Robert Porter is intended to examine this conundrum and engage the ideas of the audience.
